Chocolate and wine, often it's a conflict on the palate, but when they are well combined, they can elevate each other to great heights.We'll prove that in this special tasting edition, a collaboration between tastingnotes and Mi Joya, where we'll explore why certain aroma's go together so beautifully. And along the way, we will discover different wines and wine styles as well as different chocolates, learn about production methods, and figure out how to distinguish a good wine/chocolate from a lesser quality one.Did you know that chocolate, like wine, has designations of origin? Yes, the region where the cocoa comes from does affect the taste, just like we see in the wine world. You also find a great variety in the fruit: as the Pinot Noir grape is not comparable to the Cabernet Franc, neither is one cocoa bean to the other.Caroline (Mi Joya) and I did some experimenting one memorable evening, to find out which chocolate matches which type of wine, and vice versa. We came to very surprising discoveries and we are super exited to share them with you on two tasting evenings, one at the atelier in Tervuren, and the other at tastingnotes in Molenbeek. The choice is yours.
